GRANADA
28 Eildon Road, St Kilda
This house, Granada, was built in 1928 and is a perfect example of the Spanish mission architectural style (very popular in Hollywood at that time). Hence, “Spanish Mission” was a mix of romance, fantasy and architecture, inspired by western movies and Hollywood glamour.
Fitzroy Gardens Conservatory is another well-known Spanish Mission building, a style characterized by its use of arched colonnades with twisted columns. Arched gates, doorways, and windows, usually multi-paned affairs, also appear frequently.
